Handmade miniature instrument – Violin – the iconical stringed bowed instrument

A miniature model of the iconical, 4-string instrument, hand-made from hardwood. Violin’s predecessor is considered to be Polish fiddle, first made in Poland in 15th C. No other country can boast so many folk stringed instrument related to the violin. Martin Agricola’s (06.01.1486 – 10.06.1556) treatise Musica Instrumentalis Deutsch, dating back to 1528, describes a Polnische Geige, an instrument widely used at that time in Poland. Italian violin-makers were probably able to copy the instrument thanks to the Queen consort of Poland Bona Sforza (02.02.1494 – 19.11.1557). Since 1952 every four years Poznań, Poland, hosts the International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition.
